Director, Rutgers Center for COVID-19 Response and Pandemic Preparedness
About CCRP2
The Rutgers University Center for COVID-19 Response and Pandemic Preparedness (CCRP2) serves as an institutional hub for COVID-19 research. Part of the Institute for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases, CCRP2 was created to provide quick response and transformative solutions at the local, national, and international levels.
Our Mission
Led by David Alland, CCRP2 advances scientific breakthroughs in clinical, biomedical, and social science research from world-class institutes and the multidisciplinary Rutgers University community. We seek to accelerate discovery of novel diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines for COVID-19 and to contribute to national and international recovery through ongoing research on the societal impacts of COVID-19.
Accomplishing Our Goals
To accomplish these goals, we:
- Sponsor biomedical and social science COVID-19 research programs at Rutgers.
- Partner with public and private organizations to conduct clinical research studies testing the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics.
- Partner with state and local officials to study and advise on COVID-19 public health policies in New Jersey.
- Develop, maintain, and share institutional resources for biomedical COVID-19 research, including Biosafety Level-3 research facilities for working with live SARS-CoV-2 virus.
- Foster collaborations between clinical, biomedical, and social science researchers with seminars and events focused on COVID-19 research across disciplines.
COVID-19 Research Alliance
The COVID-19 Research Alliance serves CCRP2 as a research subcommittee, whose mission is to support the diverse faculty and researchers across Rutgers' different schools, departments, research institutes, and centers in advancing COVID-19 research.
Our mandate is to:
- Foster the exchange of information, ideas, and resources to promote productive collaborations among Rutgers researchers.
- Facilitate access to resources for COVID-19 research, including specialized Biosafety Level-3 facilities and humanized mice for in vivo infection experiments.
- Coordinate intramural research efforts and competitive extramural research applications.
